Agulhas heights
If you are thinking of staying over at Cape A'gulhas there are a few options you can choose from. We stayed over for 2 nights.
There is one small petrol station that is only open at certain times and then there is one mini "supermarket" that sells everything from Wellington boots to bake beans.
There are a few Self Catering establishments such as A'gulhas Heights which is a 2 star self-catering establishment. Situated on the higher level of the town its a set of self-catering cottages that has a view of the ocean and the historical A'gulhas light house that dates back to 1847. The cottages are fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, with double and single beds and a cosy open plan living room and a lovely fireplaces. It was ideal for us as it was a cold stormy night when we stayed over. Other than the storm the only thing that kept us away was the light flashing every few seconds from the lighthouse. Please be advised that asking the lighthouse keeper to turn the light off so that you can get a good nights sleep gets a blunt response!!!!!
One of the things that made this place stand out compared to other self catering establishments in the area was the friendly owners, honest advertising and perfect setting. Another great thing about self-catering places is that when you are travelling independently you can just collect the keys and do as you please - relax, sleep, have a drink or do as you please without having to disturb anyone or meet their timetable. It gets even better if you are travelling in the off-seasons you can make arrangements to leave an hour ,or two ,or three.... later than the usual checkout time.
Another tip for when you are booking in the off season always negotiate the price (within reason of course) you can almost always get a better deal as it is not peak time and rooms are not in such demand.
Agulhas Heights is definitely a place we would recommend staying over at if you are visiting the interesting little town all the way at the very bottom end of Africa.
