In the North parts of the United States, the word Barbeque is used to describe a function, a party, or any event that revolves around grilled meats. In the South, barbeque means something different-Pork & Smoke...lots of wood smoke. I've listed out my top five local Atlanta B-Q restaurants for you to put some South in your mouth when your in town.

1 Fox Brothers

In-town locals pack this newcomer's sunny outdoor patio, filling themselves with tasty ribs and fresh vegetable sides.

2 Dusty's Barbecue

This tiny restaurant does a thriving business with nearby Emory staff & students. The chopped pork sandwich comes without sauce, you choose your own at the table.

3 Fat Matt's Rib Shack

Good food, great place to hang out. Located along bustiling Piedmont Ave., Fatt Matt's has everything from pork sandwiches to ribs. Late at night the ligths go down and the tiny room is filled with some of the best blues in town.

4 Rolling Bones

Clean, contemporary restaurant located in a converted old gas station. These Virgin Island Natives consider their Texas Pit the best in town.
