Canal Cafe
The deck of the Canal Cafe, located in trendy Iidabashi, is a fabulous place to wile away a sunny afternoon in Tokyo. The Canal Cafe is located on the site of the former Tokyo Sujio club which was built in 1918. The club offered local residents an opportunity to take a boat ride around the Ushigome Moat, formerly the outer moat of the Imperial Palace.
Today the Canal Cafe continues the traditional by providing rental boats to it's customers from 11:30AM until sunset daily. A thirty minute rowboat rental costs Y500 for up two people or Y600 for three and can be accessed from the Deck side of the Cafe.
There are two dining options at the Canal Cafe, the more formal Restaurant side offers resort style dining with lunches starting at Y1,600 and complete dinners starting at Y3,800 (menu). The more informal Deck side offers a self serve cafe shop and bar with appetizers starting at Y600 and a selection of beer starting at Y500 (menu).
The Canal Cafe is open Tuesday through Sunday and is easily accessed from the JR Iidabashi station on the Yamanote Line. (map & hours)
