I blogged the other day about some of the Halloween events at Navy Pier, which included some fun-filled events for the little ones in your life. I wanted to tell you about another event, sponsored by the City of Chicago, that is very kid-friendly and spooky-proof.

Every year on October 17, the Daly Plaza (corner of State and Randolph streets) turns into "Franken Plaza" in honor of Halloween. The festivities will go through October 31. Events include pumpkin decorating and Halloween-themed movies. A list of movies and dates is below. There will also be performances from the fire and dance troupe, Spunn and Pyrotechniq. And, on October 25 at noon there will be a special Halloween parade at the plaza where kids can show off their ghoolish costumes.

Dates and times vary for all the Halloween activities. Thanks to the City of Chicago, here is highlight of some of the events with dates and times:

Pumpkin Decorating for children - Saturdays and Sundays, 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Pumpkins and supplies provided. One pumpkin per child.

Spunn and Pyrotechniq performances will be on Thursday and Friday evenings, October 23, 24 and 30; 5:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. On Friday, October 31, performances are at 5:30 p.m. and 7:15 p.m.

Broadway in Chicago will be telling scary Halloween tales on October 31 at 3:30 p.m.

Halloween movies will be shown on Saturday and Sunday evenings at 6:00 p.m. (Be sure to bring something to sit on.)
