Coffee's On
MMMM coffee - the drink almost all adults and near adults enjoy (and many times need). Vancouver is the right place to enjoy it. There is nowhere else in Canada, where you find as many places to enjoy "the best coffee" around.
I am not saying that you can't find something suitable in Toronto, or Montreal. In fact, I know you can. But in Vancouver, great coffee can be found on almost every street corner. One does not need to rely on Tim Horton's, McDonalds, or Starbucks.
If you need some help finding an interesting place to sit down and savor your cup of java, here is a list of 7 must visit places (many of these have free wifi - in case this interests you).

Laid back, and bohemian. It's a great place to sit and enjoy some really good coffee. They roast their beans, on the premises - your coffee will always be fresh.
Its a great place to people watch in the summertime. But with the construction for the Canada Line going on right now, I would get the coffee to go.

I hangout here 2 Saturdays a month. It's fun, small, cozy, noisy, and always crowded. If you want a seat, you must come early. Because when patrons snag a table, they settle in for a long time.
I get there late on saturday morning, and I have never found an empty seat. What keeps me coming back, when I can't sit down? It's the Big Latte. I heart The Big Latte.
Get your coffee to go and stroll over to Granville Street, and do some window shopping, or check out one of the myriad of art galleries that reside there.

This was my hangout, when I lived in Kerrisdale a few years ago. Its a combination coffee bar, take out food, and pizza place.
The friendliest baristas in town work here. I most certainly recommend the hot chocolate. It is so good. Even in the summer I would drink it, once the nights turned a little cooler.
There is also a local art gallery on the walls of this place. All art is for sale. And there is usually some great stuff to be found.

A place for great coffee, and the second best cinnamon buns in the city (1st place goes to Gage Residence Dining Hall at UBC).
If you are a reader, Turk's is the place for you, because they are the local Book Crossing junction. Bring your old tomes, and pick up something you haven't read before - for free. It's a trade off kind of thing.

Home of the most expensive coffee in town. If you want to know what really great espresso tastes like. This is your new home. I am not sure, but I think this is where latte art got its start in Vancouver. It was certainly my first experience with it, anyway.
It's popular, and comfortable. Lots of locations around the city.

Like sports with your espresso? Big screens on 2 walls. There is always a game on.....kind of makes it feel like a sports bar. Lots of space, few tables. Think I will suggest that they hold dance classes in the evening. Enough space to learn how to cha-cha.
Coffee, is good. Has a bit of a spicy taste. Like they add cinnamon or cardamon to the grind.

Award winning beans, roasters, machines, and baristas. This makes it the premier place to get your coffee in Vancouver.
Its big, and lots of stuff is always going on here. If you are interested in watching tech geeks feed their caffeine addiction, this is the place to go.
I once bought a bag of espresso beans from 49thP and sent them to a friend of mine in France. I honestly thought that espresso in France and Italy was far superior to espresso that can be found in a pseudo large canadian town.
I was wrong. My friend (who has a huge love for the espresso), claimed that these beans are fantastic. European coffee has nothing on 49th Parallel. Since he knows his espresso better than I do, I will absolutely defer to his judgement.
Anyway, if you are looking to sample the best coffee to be found in the city, this might be where you want to start.
