Convention eats: really good, really cheap grub
So you have your expense account, but maybe you are in a hurry. Perhaps your employer just isn't that generous, or you (gasp!) are footing your own bill for the convention.
Here are some great places to enjoy a local meal Downtown for way under $10.
1. Two Fisted Mario's Pizza: Here at 1626 Market St, you will find great New York style pizza until three in the morning. As a bonus, you also get the table version of your favorite video games from the 80s. Don't bother coming here if you don't like loud music and a young crowd.
2. Tokyo Joes Downtown at 1001 16th St (16th and Arapahoe) is one of my favorite of all the Denver based fast casual chains. Simple bowls of meat and rice with your choices of vegetables and sauces never tasted so good.
3. Illegal Petes mexican restaurant at 1530 16th Street is another fast casual place similar in concept to it's larger, Denver based siblings Q-Doba and Chipoltle, but with a bit more of an outlaw feel. Spicy salsas and beer battered fish tacos are great to try if you have grown old of the big fresh mex chaings.
4. Great Wall Chinese at 440 E. Colfax Ave. is a little bit outside of dowtown at Denver's "Capitol Hill". While you can walk there and eat in, their dining area is marginal at best. What really sets Great Wall apart is their enormous menu of "New York Style" Chinese food for take out and delivery. Each item is prepared at lightning speed and packaged with plenty of sauces, fried noodles, chopsticks, and fortune cookies. Lunch specials are huge and include rice, fortune cookie, and your choice of soup, soda, or egg roll for under $5 until 4 PM! Good luck getting a drink alone at the convention for that price.
