Denver’s Top Urban Parks: Washington Park
February has been extremely warm in Denver. All week, we have been seeing highs approaching the 70s. This is unusual, but not unheard of here in Colorado. This has got me thinking about getting outdoors again. I thought that I would share with you my favorite urban parks in Denver.
Washington Park, also known as Wash Park, is a very large park just to the southeast of downtown. It has a loop road that is largely closed to traffic that is a favorite of walkers, runners, cyclists and roller skaters. The park also features tennis courts and even a fishing pond.
In the summer, there are some fantastic gardens. This is a great spot for a picnic or for walking the dog.
If you are visiting, and need to get out of town for a day or two, give Wash Park a try, it is hard to find a more idyllic setting near such a large city.
