Denver's Top Movie Theaters: The Continental

  • Review
  • Friday, November 07, 2008

Every town has a theater that you go to for the big premier.  In Denver, that is the United Artist's Continental theater.

About thirteen miles south of Downtown, along I-25 at Hampden Ave., the Continental has long held the title of the biggest screen in town.   At 83 by 35 feet, this enormous screen has always been a fantastic place to catch the latest blockbuster.    I was there earlier this year for the premiers of Indiana Jones and the Chrystal Skull as well as The Dark Knight.

The biggest problem with this theater has always been the old seats that stretch forever out in front of the screen with no incline.   Sit behind someone taller than you, and you will see more of their hair then you will of the move.

Fortunately, the entire theater is nearing the end of a multi-million dollar renovation.    The highlights include both new seats and stadium style seating.   The renovations will be completed for the premier of the new James Bond film, Quantum of Solace.

While the theater is not centrally located, you can catch Denver's light rail to the Southmoor station, just a few feet from the theater's entrance.
