Eating at The Airport - Vietnam
In most countries, airports will have a large selection of places to eat. Many have choices that range from cold fast food to white table clothes and silver service. Unfortunally Vietnam has little of this on offer!
Dispite Vietnam having some of the tastiest food with in Asia, airports through out the country are pretty much state owned and the resturants leave little to the imagination. While the International termainal is new in HCMC, there is little choice when it comes to food.
Japanese and Korean seems to popular here, while in the domestic section, there are 3 choices which offer basic foods including noodle soup, dry noodle dishes, rice, breads and a range of hot and cold drinks.
In Hanoi, the grub on offer is not much different, however the service seems to better and staff friendlier.Prices are in both HCMC and Hanoi are similar and approximately 3 times of that paid outside the terminal, like many other airports! The smaller domestic aiports located through out the countryare not much better!
Overall my suggestion would be to eat before arriving! Perhaps grabbing a cold drink or a coffee while waiting for your flight.
As mentioned above, it's hard to beat Vietnamese food for taste, variety and freshness. However the airports need to drasticly improve their eating options as the country continues to become one of the fastest growing travel destinations of the world.
Happy flying!
