From the Barrio with Love...
In my June 9 article about cafés and bars, I explained somehow what the philosophy of going to these places is all about, and gave a list of establishments you may like to check out... One of these places is the Club Eros, located in the heart of the barrio de Palermo. Club Eros is one of those places that has stayed authentic throughout the years. It is a social club where you can see families with their kids playing fútbol and folks playing cards. People who are older than 30 years old will feel as if walking down memory lane when stepping in this club: the décor, the waiters, the tables, the chairs, the food, the loud talking, the older customers who have been loyal to the club for decades... It is the type of place many of us used to frequent with our parents when we were little. You can either seat at a table, cool down and have a café or you can also delight a complete course meal. The place is always packed, but once you have tried the bife de chorizo con papas fritas a la provenzal you will know why. The waiters have been on the job for years so you won't have to wait very long once you are seated, but you need to be there half an hour in advance to take your seat. The food is good, like at home. The menu is rather scarce, but it has everything these type of places should offer: steaks, milanesas a caballo con papas fritas (fried veal parmesan, very popular), pastas caseras, flan con dulce de leche o crema, and more. I highly recommend it if you want to have a café or enjoy a great meal on a friendly barrio atmosphere spot.
