Good Eats at the Airport

McCarran has done a good job alleviating the long security lines, so seasoned travelers who adhere to the recommended two-hour pre-flight arrival now have plenty of time to check out the airport restaurants and shops.  While chain restaurants are the norm, there are a few surprises, as well.

Travel Tip 1: Construction has closed the old economy parking lot for those who plan to pay for multi-day parking.  The new lot, which opened November 11, is located on the west side of Paradise Road, south of Tropicana.  Rates for long term parking are $8 max, with shuttles to get you back and forth.

Travel Tip 2:  The airport offers a 24-hour live person hotline, 702-261-5122, for parking information to let you know about lines, when lots are full, if valet is open and other tips to make your trip to the airport as smooth as possible.  Check out the website for airport maps.

Flatbreadz serves up fresh gourmet sandwiches including a yummy Southwestern Turkey BLT and other items with a great twist, like its pesto chicken salad.  Located at gates A and B.

At Gate C, the Blue Burrito Grille specializes in classic Mexican dishes prepared with lots of fresh ingredients.

For those in the mood for a quick Irish jig or an equally authentic Irish pint, stop in to Corcoran's Irish Pub at Gate C.

Jody Maroni's Sausage Kingdom nods to cuisines from around the country at with its fare that includes Louisiana Hotlinks, Bratwurst, Chicken Andouille and chili dogs.  Located at Gate D.

Gate D also offers traditional American fare including freshly cooked hamburgers, chicken fried steak and French fries at Ruby's Dinette.

Moe's at Gate A, offers an eclectic menu with a wink at pop culture with menu items that include references like Seinfield's Art Vandalay.  Airport insiders recommend the hot cooking stations that include pulled pork, shredded beef, tacos and burritos.
