Great Fireworks Displays
The Japanese love fireworks and now that the summer festival season is in full swing there are a number of different events that may fit in nicely with your travel schedule. Here are just a few of the events:
At the Sumida River Fireworks Festival, near Asakusa station, 20,000 fireworks will take to the sky on the evening of July 26th. Dating back to 1733, this is the oldest fireworks show in Japan and is quite a popular event.
Alternatively, you could head out to Showa Kinen Park, near Tachikawa Station, on July 26th where you will see a smaller show featuring 5,000 fireworks.
On August 1st, 8,000 fireworks will light up the evening sky 30 at Rinko Park near Minatomirai Station in Yokohama.
Lastly, a thrilling display of over 12,000 fireworks of all shapes, colors and sizes that sets Tokyo's night ablaze against the backdrop of Tokyo Bay and its Rainbow Bridge will be staged in August 10th at Harumi Wharf Park near Kachidoki Station on the Oedo subway line or Tsukishima and Toyosu stations.
