Great markets for spring time

  • Destination List
  • Wednesday, October 01, 2008

The weather had been kind and the sun is making a lot more appearances day by day, its spring time and what better way to spend a day than at one of the weekend markets of Sydney?

From fresh produce to crafts to second hand goods to clothing. You'll find quirky and individual designs as well as that vintage record you have been looking for. Spring shopping is better at a market than a department store!

1 Manly Arts & Craft Market

A day trip to Manly in the warmer months is always a pleasure. Before lazying around on the beach, grab some fish and chips to go and browse the arts and craft market just on the side streets where local artists and jewellery designers gather to show off their work and all is available for sale.

2 Rozelle Market

This is the locals favourite hunt for second hand goods. Come to find a unique household item and som excellent bargains. As they say: One man's trash is another's treasure!

3 Rocks Walking Tours

The Rocks is especially happy on weekends, not only are the markets filled with unique souvenir items, collectables, local arts and craft and gourmet sauces and sweets, street musicians and buskers add a little colour to the atmosphere as well.

4 Bondi Market

The beach is the most famous and its side streets are filled with great cafes and boutique stores, however on weekends, the little Bondi Market, nestled in the primary school grounds north of the beach, is where the action starts. From food carts to old stamps, to self made t-shirst and skirts, to vintage records to souvenirs, this is an all rounder market that will keep you entertained just before going for a dip in the beautiful waters off the beach.

5 Fish Markets, Pyrmont

Australian seafood is one of the best in the world, and there is no better place to get a fresh catch than Sydney's Fish Markets. Easily accessible by the Light Rail, it is where you can satisfy that spring hunger for a plate of fresh cold prawns and lobster as well as freshly shucked oysters at reasonable prices.
