Have a Dessert...

Flan is with no doubt the national dessert for excellence. If you are not familiar with this simple dessert made of eggs, milk and melted sugar, then you will soon after arriving in Buenos Aires. You will find it on the dessert menu of almost every restaurant or bar in the city. In many cases it is also called "flan casero", meaning it is home made flan. I strongly recommend you order one. I goes along well with a coffe. Many porteños also make it at home. Of all the desserts in Argentina, I think this is perhaps the most typical and I definitely wouldn't leave the country without having eaten it at least once. It is often served with Argentina's other specialty, dulce de leche, which is a rich and tasty caramel, or you can also enjoy it with whipped cream on top. So remenber, just save some space in your belly for a good dessert.
