Hawaii Tourism on the Decline
It makes me very sad to report the latest travel data from Hawaii. Both local and national news publications have reported a very steep 12.5% decline in tourism. I guess I should have seen this coming since three of Honolulu's popular restaurants closed last month. Deepening this crisis is the closure of Japan's Hawaii tourism office in Honolulu.
Even with a growing number of Chinese and Korean tourists, Hawaii simply can't afford to lose more visitors to the islands.
On the bright side, I know for a fact that ticket prices to and from the mainland are dirt cheap right now. I just bought a roundtrip ticket to San Francisco for just $300! It's important to bear in mind that when tourism is really bad there are unbeatable travel deals out there somewhere!
Always my first place to check is Kayak.com, followed by TravelZoo.com.
The world is your oyster! Crack it open, and hopefully decide for yourself why Hawaii is paradise to so many.
