Helping the Kids

Through out Vietnam and South East Asia there are a lot of people, groups, charities and NGO's helping in various ways, shapes and forms.

Hanoi, Vietnam's capital city, is no different. One charity located in Hanoi's Long Bien District is Blue Dragon.

They have over the past few years helped out any number of young kids, street kids, disadvantage youth etc from not only the City but all over Vietnam. Along with working with the kids, they are often found helping the enitre family, helping to provide a favourable enviroment for parents and children alike.

A new venture called VIP Bike Rentals has just begun in Hanoi. The deal is simple. They rent bikes to people, while the Blue Dragon kids learn all about the maintiance and servicing of the bikes by an Aussie Epat who is a quailified Mechenic.

It's a great idea and give the kids basic skills and knowledge that may one day allow them to go out and get full time employment, providing money for themselves and their family.

Prices vary on how long you rent, with discounts on offer for long term rentals. To find out more about VIP Bike Rentals and to see some images of the kids, visit Vietnam Travel Notes

If your not into riding bikes around Hanoi, do yourself a favour and visit the Blue Dragon blog - vietnamstreets.blogspot.com

And remember - Helmets must be worn in Vietnam at all times - by law ;-)
