It's Spring Racing Carnival time
It's the annual Spring Racing Carnival at Rose Hill Gardens, and it's time to slap on your best hats and head to the races.
Last year the carnival was cancelled due to severe cases of horse flu. However, how that the horses are healthy and kicking, the race is back on. Not just for the fastest horses, but for the best looking hats and facinators as well.
The three week event starts on the 30 August with the Tooheys New Golden Rose Day for two-year-olds - Sydney's only million-dollar race during spring. Not only will the first 1000 guest to enter the venue receive a special gift, five lucky people will also win a holiday for two to the Gold Coast.
Then, on the 13 September department store giant will be holding their Mad about the Hat Day, a day where ladies can come dressed with their best hats, with prizes for beautiful creations as well as the craziest hats. Everything on this day will be about the hats!
Lastly, on the 20 September is WSFM Tea Rose day, a full day of racing program themed to treat all guests as royals. There will be shoe shiners going among the guests polishing the leather on their feet, the red carpets will be laid, trumpeters and court jesters will line up on the side waiting to be summoned and the sport of joustling will be demonstrated.
Gates to the race course open at 11am on each day and entry is $20 on the day.
