Italian Film Festival: October 9-14
In case you thought the only Italian presence around Miami were the scores of restaurants, home interior and design studios, and fashion boutiques, think again. There's also a seventh art known as cinema which has its own annual Italian extravaganza annually in Miami Beach when the Italian Film Festival unfolds this coming month between October 9th and 17th.
The Festival's moving force is its president and artistic director, Claudio di Persia, a movie industry veteran whose knowledge of contemporary Italian screen fare is reflected in the diversity of this year's program. Spanning comedy, drama and romance, there's something being showcased here for anyone who has ever appreciated Italy's contribution to the big screen. The Festival gets underway with a preliminary "Tribute to Italian Cinema: Italian Oscar Winning Films" on October 4th, and wraps up with a Closing Dinner and Award Ceremony at The Forge on October 14.
