Originally from a small town in upstate New York and most recently living in New York City, I transferred to Paris for work in April 2007. I'll admit it: I came to Paris convinced that no city could compare to New York. But little by little, day by day, Paris is winning my heart as I discover its beautiful art and architecture, its fabulous food and the unique attitude of its residents. I'll share these winning discoveries here.

L'Entêtée
An "entêtée" is a stubborn or hard-headed person, and we can imagine that Julie Ferrault must be pretty persistant to survive ten years of apprenticeship to open this delightful little neo-bistro at age thirty. The pocket-sized restaurant is located on a quiet side street off of lively rue Daguerre in the 14th arrondissement. The small room seats 25 guests and is decorated in a warm, modern style with gray furniture and a large slate wall at the back listing the day's menu. On this menu, you'll find dishes inspired by traditional French bistro cuisine updated with herbs and spices from around the world, such as an endive tarte tatin with chevre, or a mushroom "cappucino" with garlic cream. Desserts might include a date mousse accompanied by a salad of taragon, mint and basil, or a mint pain perdu with melon and spice jam. The restaurant is open Tuesday through Friday for lunch (12:30 pm to 2:00 pm) and Tuesday through Saturday for dinner (8:00 pm to 10:00pm). Expect to pay around 25 euro for the set menu. Your persistance in getting a reservation will certainly be rewarded.
