La Casa De America in Madrid
La Casa De America ("the house of America", comes from the fact that its activities focus on elements from Ibero-America) is one of the most prominent cultural centres in the city, especially for the locals.
It's a house that hosts a multitude of events from political debates to art and cultural exhibitions, to book readings, free theatre, music concerts, and movies.
With the number of things happening here year round -- various at the same time -- it's hard to keep up to date, however it's worth passing by the centre to pick up a programme and see what's going on there during the week.
It's run by the community of Madrid, so everything is either free or reasonably priced.
Starting in October begins Festival VivAmerica which will go on for a week and display art, culture, literature and movies from 22 Ibero-American countries. More on that closer to the time.
It's located at Plaza de Cibeles, 2.
