Les Parisiennes

Parisian women have a special style which goes beyond mere fashion sense. Since the 1950s, Egyptian-born illustrator Edmond Kiraz has captured this style with his drawings of "Les Parisiennes". Kiraz's long-legged, pouty-lipped parisiennes have graced the pages of magazines such as Marie-Claire, Elle, Paris-Match and Playboy, and have also appeared in advertising campaigns for well-known French brands such as Canderel and Nivea. You can discover the girls for yourself now through September 21 at Kiraz retrospective exhibit, Les Parisiennes de Kiraz, at the Musee Carnavalet. The retrospective features 130 works including original paintings, drawings, press reviews and posters. The museum alone is a treat to visit: located in the heart of the Marais in two gorgeous hotels particuliers from the 16th and 17th centuries, its exhibits explore the history of everyday life in Paris.
