I have been hearing for a few years now that Washington is coming up in terms of fashion.  Washington is by no means on the level of New York or Chicago, but there are some interesting boutiques to choose from.  I recently found a new boutique that bills itself as a "sample sale boutique" in Old Town Alexandria.

Aptly named, Treat, this store has new inventory every week and is the first of its kind in Washington.  At Treat, you can find discounted items from high-end designers.  The store is only open on Friday, Saturdays and Sundays.  Treat sells overstock, discountinued, or end of season items from other boutiques. 

Nestled in what appears to be a former residence in historic Old Town Alexandria, the staff at Treat make you feel at home from the time that you step inside.  I had read about the store for some time but finally decided to visit.  I was in search of the "elusive" nice brown bag which, for me, always seems so hard to find.  I found a very rock-star quality brown bag by Hadyen-Harnett that I was quite pleased with.  The staff took the time to tell me about the Brooklyn-based designers and to also give just good old fashioned girly advice such as "that looks good on you."

I then went back to Treat in search of another quality bag.  This time, I left with a cranberry colored Botkier bag that has a little flower applique.  It's so cute.  I also looked at the selection in terms of clothing and liked what I saw as well.  Since it is a sample boutique, you may not necessarily find your size but the selection was good.  There was a good selection of jeans from top designers as well.  If you are in Old Town, stop by and Treat yourself.  I would advise you to engage the staff in conversation and you may also find out the journey of your item as I did when I purchased the Botkier bag.
