Madrid: Photo España 2008
One of Spain's biggest cultural festivals is Photo España. Running all through July, this year's festival has 68 expositions across the city, exhibiting work of 230 artists. First started in 1998, each year the festival has been attracting around 600,000 people.
The festival is divided into two parts 1) The Official Section: exhibitions in the famous museums and large cultural centres, 2) The Off Festival: that includes photo exhibitions in smaller art galleries and open air.
The heart of the festival is in Paseo de la Castellana, one of the main streets of Madrid that divides the city into two.
This year, the photographs displayed are divided into the following themes: place, historic and great masters, invited projects.
Depending on what youchoose to see, the exhibition will be free or included in the entrance of the museum/cultural centre.
Lucky for all the non-Spanish speaking guiris, the website is awesome and is well explained IN ENGLISH (yaaaay). All locations, times, events, workshop schedules etc can be found right here.
The festival runs till July 27, 2008.
