Mini Market by Tempo

From the owners of Kensington Market club, Supermarket, Mini Market was formerly known as just "Tempo." Tempo served gourmet Asian-fusion at gourmet prices. It was trendy for the martini-swilling twenty-something set but Mini Market proves to be just a bit more interesting. The tapas and larger share plate menu is still Asian influenced but prices are slightly more affordable – or perhaps I'm just older and am no longer living on a student's non-salary. Either way, I prefer the more laid-back attitude Mini Market has. The food is delicious, interesting and artfully prepared. Try the Tuna Takati, a dish of six sumptuous pieces of pan-seared sashimi tuna topped with avocado. The Argentinian style steak (not everything is Asian) in a chimichurri dressing with matchstick potatoes comes fanned out and looks almost too good to eat. Luckily, the taste lives up to the presentation, which is a good way to describe Mini Market. Although, with a laid back environment to match the new tapas menu, the food may now outdo the atmosphere.
