If you’re coming into Manila tomorrow, you’ll discover a ghost town. The malls and all the travel sites will be shut down. The masses of people will be holed up in their houses or out of town. What can one do on a day like this?

Well you can try to have a Holy Holy Week by doing a Visita Iglesia or the practice of visiting seven churches one after the other. This pilgrimage involves saying the Stations of the Cross.  Here are some popular churches you can pray at or a place to observe good old-fashioned Filipino piety.

1. San Agustin Church
General Luna St. corner Real St., Intramuros, Manila

2. Malate Church
Nuestra Senora de Remodios – M.H. del Pilar St., Malate, Manila

3. Quiapo Church
Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene: Plaza Miranda, Quezon Blvd., Quiapo, Manila

4. Manila Cathedral
(Basilica Minore de la  Nuestra Senora de la Immaculada Conception) Plaza Roma, Intramuros, Manila (near Palacio del Gobernador)

5. Ermita Catholic Church
(Nuestra Senora de Guia Church) M.H. Del Pilar St. cor. A Flores Sts., Ermita, Manila

6. San Sebastian Church
(Basilica Minore de San Sebastian) Plaza del Carmen, Quiapo, Manila

7. Sta. Cruz Church
 Plaza Santa Cruz, Manila, Tel: +63 2 733 0246.
