Orchidland at the Maui County Fair
Each fall, members of the Maui Orchid Society create a colorful display called Orchidland at the Maui County Fair in Kahului. Compared to other orchid exhibits, Orchidland is the biggest on Maui and among the biggest in Hawaii -- even rivalling most on the mainland.
What makes Orchidland so great is the diversity of orchids bred by local growers. With more than 300 passionate orchid growers, the Maui Orchid Society boast one of the widest varieties of orchids in the country. In fact, when the Dalai Lama visited Maui in 2007, he consulted with an MOS member about why one of his orchid plants had died.
This year's Orchidland runs from October 2-5 and proves to set a new standard of orchid exhibition. Find out more about the Maui County Fair and the temporary Orchidland exhibit by visiting the MCF informational site online.
