Soep en Zo, a Place for Soup Lovers

Soup en Zo is very popular and with good reason. Fifteen different home-made soups tempt Amsterdamers back on a regular basis. My favourite is deep orange pumpkin soup flavoured with cumin and coriander. Velvety peanut soup is my second choice. Chunky slices of whole-grain bread make it into a complete meal.

Don't feel like eating soup today? No problem. Exotic fruit juice imported from Brazil, frothy milkshake or a lemon-ginger drink will please your taste buds. What about morzarella salad thick with olives, walnuts, red pepper and tomatoes, sprinkled with a nutty dressing?

The soup chef and his staff prepare fifteen different soups each day, both meat-based and vegetarian. What's on the menu depends on availability of fresh ingredients.

The soups are sold in carton containers with lids, sized large, larger and largest. I was amazed to find out that my soup stayed hot for at least thirty minutes. That's why Soup and Zo is popular as a take-away. When I am not in a hurry I savour my soup sitting at the bar or in summer at one of the outside tables.
