Talat Pak Khlong & Saphan Phut Market
Talat Pak Khlong is one of Bangkok's biggest markets for wholesale produce. Here you can buy fresh fruits and vegetables but it is mainly known for flowers. The market is held around Chak Phet Street and its side-streets. Strategically located by the river, boats arrive at Pak Khlong Pier in the night loaded with flowers and produce, and trucks roll into the area and block the main street and side-streets. By 2 a.m. trade is well under way and the market is heaving with buyers and sellers. The array of beautiful blooms is simply stunning; the air a heady mix of perfume. The market is one of the best places in the city to take pictures.
Saphan Phut Market is located nearby the flower market. Here you can enjoy an evening browsing second hand goods, bric-a-brac and clothes. Saphan Phut Market is open Tuesday to Sunday from 7.00 p.m. until 2.00 a.m.
Getting there: take the Chao Phraya Express boat from Saphan Thaksin Pier (near the BTS station of the same name) to Pak Khlong Talat Pier.
