The Flying Leatherneck Museum

The Flying Leatherneck Museum has been noted as being one of the most unique museums in the world.  Its collection of preserving aircraft and other paraphernalia from the Marine Corps is outstanding.

It is located in the town of Miramar, inland of coastal San Diego.

The museum is both indoor and outdoor.  Around 25 vintage military aircraft are on exhibit, as well as other memorabilia.  The items you will see here are original and one of a kind.  With its selection of uniforms, pictures and weapons, it's no wonder that this museum draws in so many visitors. 

It's also interesting to note that this musuem holds the history and memoribilia of the Woman Marine, which cannot be found anywhere else in the United States. 

Permant trophies can also be seen at this museum site.

As far as the aircraft is concerned, you'll see a collection of restored jets, propellor planes, helicopters and transports.  Here's a short list of what you'll be seeing:

For those of you who are military aircraft enthusiasts, The Flying Leatherneck Museum is not to be missed.  Their museum store also has some good items to see.  The museum is opened from Tuesday thru Sunday from 9a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
