Three Great Reason to Visit Auckland Zoo.

  • Review
  • Tuesday, September 23, 2008

There's a good reason to visit the Auckland Zoo this month - actually, there are three good reasons. They are Jalur, Berani, and Cinta, the three Sumatran tiger cubs that were born in the Zoo on June 12th and have only made their public debut on the 17th.

Here's some tips from the Zoo on the best ways to get to see these tiger cubs...

  • The Zoo can't guarantee or control that you will see the cubs- patience is recommended
  • the cubs are currently given access outside approximately three times a day and this time varies each day, however is more likely between 10am - 3pm
  • a PA announcement will be made when the keepers think the cubs are likely to be outside
  • the cubs have been staying outside for approximately 20 minutes at a time
  • whether the cubs go outside is dependant on fine weather
  • during the September school holidays (27 September - 12 October) keepers have confirmed they will give the cubs access outside at 11.30am each day and there will be a tiger themed holiday programme
  • taking public transport to the Zoo is recommended as parking is at a premium (for public transport options to the Zoo, click here)
  • For those that can't get to the Zoo, there's always the cub cam.
