You Are What You Eat
Most of us can’t stand the thought of coming all the way to Italy only to eat bad fast food in an airport restaurant. And for those of you who find yourself in Florence’s Amerigo Vespucci Airport, this will be no exception.
Located roughly 4 km north from the city of Florence, connections to the city by public transport are a bit limited if not impossible. This must explain the sad excuse for airport restaurants in the area. I assume the food just can’t find its way here.
But not to worry, if you really you have to fly into the small Florence airport, you certainly won’t starve or be forced to eat anything other than delicious Italian cuisine-airport style. With food selections of Spizzico (Pizza), My Chef (Paninis) and A-Café (a strange mix of pizza and panini) I have to ask, “Where’s the Beef?”.
But not to fret friendly travelers, Italians still believe in a good stiff glass of wine or pre-flight café corretto (coffée with a shot of liquor or grappa). But if you can wait to eat, save yourself until you get into the city, the land of the plenty and home to some of the best food in the country. Buon viaggio!
