Wine enthusiasts should make an effort to spend the day in Martinborough. It's only an hour away from Wellington and offers a chances to explore some of New Zealand's great boutique wineries.
First stop should be the visitors center where you can pick up the Martinborough Wine Trail brochure. This brochure provides a map and information about the 17 wineries in the area.
And once you're done with the wineries, take a little time to explore Martinborough's Colonial Musuem and the Taxidermy Gallery. Or, for something a little more adventurous, check out McLeods Quad Adventures and take a 300cc Quad Bike over farmland and through riverbeds.
As capital of New Zealand, there's a good chance you'll come across a politican or two while in Wellington. Of course, you might not recognize them. But for those who are political junkies, there are places to go to increase the chance of a political meeting.
Wellington's Parliament House is the place to start. You can sit in the pubilc gallery above the debating chamber when parliament is in session and listen to the political discussions (or bickering) that goes on.
There are also free, daily, one-hour guided tours offered around visit key parts of Parliament's buildings.
Otherwise, another place for politican spotting is the Backbenchers Pub, a favorite watering hole located near the corner of Molesworth St. and Sydney St.
Join the Zombie Walk at the Frank Kits Park tomorrow (8th September) and become part of an effort to break the world record for the world's largest Zombie Walk.
All Zombies are to gatther and be counted, starting at 8pm, with a march along an unknown route beginning at 9pm.
Of course, you'll need to dress up as all Zombies do, in tattered (fake) blood stained clothing with funny hair, white face, hollow checks, and black lips. Dress up in your Zombie-finest. And if you've any Zombie make-up tips send them along.

BrewNZ is back in Wellington this weekend, hosting the two day Beervana, a true celebration of New Zealand beer.
It's a bit like New Zealand's own Oktoberfest, with three beer tasting sessions held over two days -5th and 6th September.
Session 1 - Friday 5th September from 4pm till 9pm Session 2 - Saturday 6th September from 10am till 2pm Session 3 - Saturday 6th September from 4pm till 9pm All sessions will be held at The Overseas Terminal Function Centre, Chaffers Marina, Wellington.
Price per person & per session: $25 with all beer and food inside the terminal at an additional cost.
Dance Your Socks Off! Festival is running throughout September.
