Toronto Art: Signs of Life
Before the show ends on Sunday, try to drop by Loop Gallery to view Signs of Live; an intimate portrait of someone I don't know. The exhibition by Yvonne Singer, a Toronto-based artist and York University professor who has shown both nationally and internationally, uses political and personal artifacts to portray the artist's father's life.
Specifically, the show focuses on the post-WWII period and uses found documents like passports and visas used in occupied Europe with her father's own medication records, telling the story of a man who travelled from Hungary to Canada after the war.
This show is a great opportunity to experience true Canadian talent in a small, intimate setting.

Evil Dead: The Musical
The people in the first few rows of Evil Dead: The Musical (called the "Splatter Zone") are kindly given plastic ponchos during intermission before they're splattered and sprayed with blood – and fans fight for these seats!
Based on '80s cult classic horror films, Evil Dead is a naughty, kitschy musical horror show full of ridiculous songs, amusing dance numbers and a whole lot of bloodshed. While the show is much more funny than scary, it's not the kind of production you bring the whole family to. The "F-bomb" is dropped often and the jokes tend to be of the sexual nature but it is definitely good fun.
I could give you a plot and character summary, but like the movies it's based on, the plot really isn't all that important, and it's much more fun going in, like I did, with few expectations. You'll be pleasantly surprised – and if you're lucky, covered in blood.
