This DC-area chain offers relatively inexpensive beer and half-price appetizers to the underpaid, overworked Hill staffers that toil nearby. Located in the National Postal Museum building, Cap City is convenient… and reliable but can be packed at happy hour. The waitstaff won't let you use a booth if you're not ordering food, so crowds throng the bar, making it difficult to place your order amid elbowing new arrivals. The food is neither overwhelming nor underwhelming, but the Capitol Kölsch beer is a must try. Cap City's Metro Center location, which opened in 1992, was the first brewpub to grace the District since prohibition. (photo) [link]
