The family's winemaking philosophy is simple: to produce the finest wines possible from the highest quality grapes grown in Niagara. Achieving this requires a complex strategy that involves emphasizing the unique characteristics of each vineyard and allowing each wine to express its own personality. Award-winning VQA wines include full-bodied red wines; lively, fresh white wines; and exquisite varietals of their flagship product, Icewine. Their approach to winemaking has earned Pillitteri Estates more than 500 medals at domestic and international competitions, including the coveted Civart Trophy, a Grand Gold from Vinitaly and a rare Double Gold Medal from the American Wine Society.
Pillitteri achieved further international acclaim by winning Canada's only Gold for its 2004 Shiraz Icewine at the Syrah du Monde Competition held in Ampuis, France in June of 2007. Most recently, the winery was awarded a Gold Trophee Citadelles for their 2004 Riesling Icewine at the Citadelles Du Vin at Vinexpo Bordeaux 2007.
Pillitteri Estates Winery is recognized as the world's largest estate producer of Icewine and one of the most innovative, creating a wide variety of Icewines, including the first produced 2006 Semillon Icewine.
