Description: Built in 1855, this Hindu temple honors Perumal (or Vishnu), who is believed to have reincarnated nine times for mankind's sake. Visitors bear witness to this legend depicted upon the gorupam. Constructed in 1979, this gorupam was built with funds donated by Mr P Govindasamy Pillay, a local merchant and devotee. The temple hold shrines for the deity's two wives, Lakshmi and Andai, and his steed (or bird)--the garuda. You may also spot female devotees praying to a thulasi plant, a symbol of faith and womanhood. The temple is the starting point of the annual Thaipusam procession.
