't Hotel

Category: Hotels

Address: Leliegracht 18, Amsterdam,

Description: A small and friendly hotel in a completely renovated 17th century canal house, centrally located at the edge of the famous quarter the Jordaan, only a few minutes walk from the Dam Square and the Anne Frank House. 't hotel has eight luxury double rooms. In the spacious bright and modern basement the guests quietly enjoy their extensive breakfast buffet. As the hotel is housed in a historic building major structural changes are not allowed, therefore 't hotel has no lift and is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible. The Leliegracht ("gracht" means "canal") is one of Amsterdam's prettiest and most tranquil canals. Lime trees filter the sunlight, at night lanterns create a peaceful and romantic atmosphere. An enchanting neighbourhood, blissful and less crowded. In the elegant properties along the canal there are some interesting, internationallyorientated antiquarian bookshops, specialising in architecture, literature, travel, philosophy, history, art and culture. The shop on the ground floor of 't hotel has a collection of art and design (especially art deco) earthenware, glass, furniture and elegant ladies hats. In the immediate vicinity of t hotel you'll find a variety of wellregarded restaurants (one with a Michelin star only 150 metres away) as well as the authentic Amsterdam "brown" cafes. 't hotel, opened in 2000 by Thom and Liesbeth Broekema, has quickly made a name for itself. It is recommended in travel guides such as Lonely Planet and Rough Guide and has also appeared in various newspapers and magazines worldwide. The rooms are relaxingly simple, fitted out with art deco style furniture, very comfortable beds and armchairs as well as all other conveniences you might wish to find. Wifi is available in all rooms, free of charge. Thom and Liesbeth made 't hotel a place where the guests feel at home right away. Since April 2004 Kees Koppenaal and Harry Moerlie have run the hotel in the same spirit. 't hotel is a hotel with a unique personal style and atmosphere that has regular clientele. Book well ahead, especially at weekends.
