Locations:
Szimpla Kert
Kazinczy u. 14, Budapest, 1073, Hungary
Buddha Beach
Közraktár utca 9-11
If you want to have an absolutely amazing view on Budapest and at the same time party and dance or sit in a small bamboo thai style house and have a drink there is only one place to go, Buddha Beach. Located directly at the Danube on the Pest side you can see Gellert Hill and the Castle District from small comfortable bamboo houses while next to you party is going on. At least at night. In the afternoon or early evening you can sit there and enjoy the sun and the view. Buddha Beach is a mix of everything, dance, drink, sightseeing, fresh air. Go to Buddha Beach if you can.
Sark Kert
The most basic and Hungarian of the kerts on the island sits between Holdudvar and the river. Two days before it opened this year, it really didn’t look like it was going to. It’s not the most sophisticated place: a few huts house the bars, including one that sells sausages, hekk and pörkölt; seating is a bit rickety, and the floor is a kind of dry soil. There are always a couple of dogs running around too. Sark kert though, has a hippy soul and is infused with a carefree, relaxed atmosphere. Sitting in the blazing sun, with some relief from the parasols, this might be Budapest or it could be somewhere on the other side of the world. There’s the occasional band too, and concerts tend to evolve into late night jams.
Romkert
1013 Budapest, Döbrentei tér 2, Hungary
Romkert Budapest is a new open air place at the Erzsébet bridge on Buda side. Located directly at the Danube shore where the Rudas bath is you have a wonderful atomsphere like in a beergarden with an additional dance floor. The people at Romkert in Budapest do not fit into one sheme it is just a good mix of many people who love to dance, party and drink. From the outside it seems very small but when you are in and have a view on the complete open air club it is very large and spacy. You find tables there to sit and just have a beer as well as a dance floor with a good mix of electronic music up to RnB or even Rock. If you pass the place accidentely jump in and have a beer in Romkert Budapest.
West-Balkan
Kisfaludy utca 37, Budapest
Tuzraktér
1061, Hegedu utca 3, Budapest
Club Tuzraktér is a mostly open air place in Budapest. In the backyard of an old manufacturing place Tuzraktér offers a lot of places to sit and drink. Tuzraktér Budapest is a large place with an amazing atmosphere and a lot to see because it has many rooms and sections besides the main place. In the heart of Ferencváros Tuzraktér is easy to find. Just get off the blue Metro at station "Klinikák". From there you walk about 2 minutes to Tuzraktér Budapest.
Copacabana Beach
northern corner of Margaret Island
At the end of Margit Island you can find a little entrance under the bridge. You have to go through a long tunnel and at the end you are at the entrance of Copacabana beach Budapest. An open air club with beach feeling. Half the club is under a roof including the dance floors and the bars. The rest is uncovered and you actually sit directly next to the bridge. The Copacabana team has set up chairs and beach divan beds at the water where you can relax and talk. The music of Copacabana is everything from House to Hip Hop or Rn
Holduvar
1088 Budapest, Múzeum körút 8, Hungary
Since 2006 Holdudvar in Budapest is located on Margit sziget instead of the university. If you enter Margit sziget from Margit bridge you have to walk about 500m into the island and you will see the lights of Holdudvar which they became famous for (See picture below). The place is quiet cool as it is an old house renovated very good in the middle of the island. Actually the place is the same except from the nice university wall surrounding the place. In my eyes Holdudvar in Budapest is a little bit too large so it is hard that some kind of party feeling gets up. In the old Holdudvar you were standing almost on your neighbors feet so you had to do what the people around you did... dance. By now Holdudvar also offers a lot of different kind of food so it almost became a restaurant during the day time and the early evening. Nevertheless it is still one of the coolest open air places in Budapest and definitely worth a visit.
Corvinteto
Blaha Lujza tér 1, 1085 VIII. kerület, Budapest, Hungary
Corvinteto is a new place to go. Located in the center of Budapest directly at Blaha Luiza tér you can reach Corvinteto very easy. The place itself is on the roof of an old shopping center. The entrance is a little bit hidden but you will find the building, as it is the highest around, and so the entrance. The prices are cheap and the offer is quiet normal. Beer, longdrinks shots, wine whatever you wnat you will get there. The Corvinteto offers a lot of places to sit and stand as well as a dancefloor. From up there you have a nice view on some parts of the city.
Közgáz Cellar
IX. Fovám tér 8, Budapest, Hungary
Mokka Cuka
Hajógyári Sziget, Hungary
On the biggest island of Budapest, the Hajógyári sziget is Mokka Cuka. An open air club in the middle of nowhere. Thats what it looks like but in fact you are in between Buda and Pest on an island. Surrounded by trees, flowers and bushes you can find a half open tent which is part of the dance floor. The bar is endless long but always crowded. Many people come to just sit outside others come to party all night long. The best way to go to Mokka Cuka is the Hev to Szentendre or by Taxi.
Cha-Cha-Cha Terasz
Cahchacha Terasz Budapest is the summer residence of Chachacha Underground Cafe at Kalvin square. The best way to reach Chachacha Terasz is to enter Margit island at Margit bridge. From there you walk approx. 200m and on the left side you will find the entrance. The Chachacha Terasz is an open air price with a very nice ambiance and fantastic music. The party starts at around 1 at night when the club starts to get crowded. The prices for drinks are below average and the staff is very friendly. We highly recommend Chachacha Terasz as well as Chachacha Underground Cafe in winter.
Zold Pardon
Goldman Gyorgy Ter Budapest, 1111, Hungary
Zöld Pardon is an open air place on the Buda side of Budapest. It is located directly next to the bridge or actually within the range of the bridge because you can turn left if you come from Pest side to reach the upper Danube road and in this circle is Zöld Pardon. By the way, on the other side of the bridge is the open air club Cafe del Rio. In Zöld Pardon in summer there are a lot of live concerts of Hungarian bands in the evening. The audience of Zöld Pardon is very different. You can see very young people around 16 or old people in the 40’s or even 50’s. The place is very big and offers to places to party plus several bars aside. The one dance floor is usually used for Hip Hop music and the second, the bigger one, is for the live concerts or Pop and chart music. In summer Zöld Pardon is a good place to go because you are on the fresh air and have some drinks while listening to good music, even though it’s Hungarian.
Cafe Del Rio
Cafe del Rio or just called Rio is open air and at the Petöfi híd on Buda side. On the Other side you can find Zöld Pardon. Rio is a place for House and other electric music. As it is open air it is only open in summer of course. The style of Rio in Budapest is very cool. Simplicity rules the chairs, sofas and bars. Compared to Zöld Pardon Cafe del Rio is more expensive and more exclusive what does not mean that you don’t get in there but the people dress up more.
